The situation

The business need and starting point

The client wanted a localised eCommerce website for its Asia-Pacific operations. The project had a demanding schedule and needed time for the Shinetech team to understand the business and take over the work.

The team proposed two phases: develop the first localised Magento website, then apply the approach to other international sites. User experience and customer journeys were central to the first implementation.

The project questions

Key Questions

What needed to be understood before implementation?

An initial week of consultation and exploration focused on the client’s needs and expectations, followed by UX analysis and continued business discussions.

Which shopping workflows needed support?

The first site included a buyer questionnaire, click and collect, online quotation with offline trade, pre-purchase and replenishment functions.

Could one site simply be copied across countries?

The international phase adapted solutions to local users, locations and internal administration processes.

The solution

What the implementation covered

The first Magento site included a questionnaire-based shopping guide distinguishing enterprise purchasers from individual buyers. Click and collect allowed users to choose a nearby pickup store through an interactive map.

Other functions supported online quotes with offline trade, pre-purchase of temporarily unavailable products with dispatch notifications, and replenishment for recurring products.

The international work addressed localisation, time-zone differences and language barriers. The team used on-site technical support, DevOps services, automation tools and support staff with English, Spanish and Portuguese language capability.

How the work unfolded

From requirements to delivery and support

01 · Discovery

Understand the first market and shopping journey

Use the initial consultation and exploration meetings to clarify requirements. Carry out UX analysis and work closely with the client to understand the business before implementing the first site.

02 · First launch

Deliver the Chinese Magento store

Build the localised platform and its shopping functions. The original report records a successful launch within four months.

03 · International expansion

Adapt the approach to different markets

Tailor the solution to each market and the client’s administration processes. Provide on-site support and establish DevOps and automated tooling during the expansion.

04 · Continued delivery

Maintain and improve the international sites

The original case describes ongoing improvement, maintenance and updates after the international launches.
