Synchronise the day’s work
Web services supported bidirectional synchronisation with the back-office server. The data to be synchronised could be configured, and technicians could receive work remotely.
Case study · Real estate & property
A US property services company equipped technicians to create estimates, capture signatures and print invoices onsite, with online and offline working and back-office synchronisation.

The situation
The client wanted technicians to prepare estimates and invoices at customer sites. They also needed to receive daily work remotely without travelling to the office.
Conventional laptop and tablet solutions were described as cumbersome for this field workflow. The project explored a Pocket PC application supported by Shinetech’s .NET engineering team.
The approach
Web services supported bidirectional synchronisation with the back-office server. The data to be synchronised could be configured, and technicians could receive work remotely.
The application supported online and offline operation, service or product presentation, customer signature capture and onsite printing.
Completed work could be synchronised back to the server. Web-service login and role-based permissions controlled access to application functions.
Project context
Technologies and working practices used in this engagement.
The result
The delivered functions covered estimates, invoices and purchase orders at the point of service.
Technicians could continue their onsite workflow without a continuous connection.
Two-way data synchronisation linked field activity with office processing.
