Building an Internet of Vehicles Platform for Insurance
An insurance agency requested a smart-vehicle management platform to collect driving-pattern and vehicle-operation data before and after incidents.

Client context
An insurance agency serving car manufacturers
The client is an insurance agency providing targeted solutions for car manufacturers. Its work focuses on helping those manufacturers reduce costs and improve efficiency when incidents occur.
The IoT requirement concerned information from vehicles and drivers. The agency wanted a smart-vehicle management platform that could collect this information around an incident.
The challenge
Capture vehicle and driving context around incidents
The client requested a platform through which data on driving patterns and vehicle operations could be collected before and after an incident.
Both parts of that requirement matter to the brief: how the driver was driving and how the vehicle was operating. The requested time coverage includes the period before the incident as well as the period afterwards.
Platform requirements
Connect vehicle data with the insurance workflow
Shinetech was asked to create an Internet of Vehicles platform centred on smart-vehicle management and incident-related data collection.
The platform’s business context is the agency’s work with car manufacturers. Collecting driving-pattern and vehicle-operation information supports that focus on incident-related cost and operating efficiency.
